The vineyard is located in the region of Binissalem between Inca and Sencelles, only a 15 minute drive from Palma.
Four vine varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Mante Negro and Shiraz, have been grown and lovingly cared for on an area of 5 ha in the years between 2000 and 2004. However, the grapes were not cultivated by the previous owner himself, but sold. Our wish was to produce ourselves and to find our own way with the help of a competent winemaker. With Stefan Winterling we have found an expert who works with passion for Son Campaner. Island typical autochthonous grapes as well as French ones are used to produce Son Campaner’s wines. A combination of wines full of character show the where they come from.
“As we demand high standards ourselves, we set great value on the management of our vineyard. Low yields and precious grapes are the basis of our wine quality.”
In 2015 we acquired a neighboring plot of land in the size of 1ha and planted our first white grape varieties.
Plans for an own Bodega within the vineyard came up quickly and the building application was submitted. Until the building was completed we rented an industrial warehouse in Binissalem, where we were able to process our grapes already after the first harvest in 2009. At that time no one could have imagined that we had to wait four years to get a construction permit.
In August 2015 time had finally come and we were able to turn our first local harvest into products, optimizing the quality of our wines. Besides a spacious tasting room our visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a magnificent view from a rooftop patio right next to the field, from where you can see the small village of Sencelles and the mountain region of Tramontana while tasting our wines.
